Q. Why should my organization participate?
Participating in the Mississippi Day of Giving is a great way to boost your organization's efforts to raise funds, attract volunteers, and share your success with people across the state. Mississippi ranks number two in the nation in charitable giving and, According to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, online giving has experienced rapid and healthy growth year to year.
Our goal is to engage donors from across the state and around the country, connecting Mississippians with causes they care about. To make the most of these efforts, you will want to make sure your organization's story is clearly communicated and your good work is on display. Mississippi Day of Giving gives all organizations the opportunity to reach thousands of new potential donors and provides the type of visibility that only a statewide effort of this magnitude can generate.
Q.How can my nonprofit participate?
Any 501(c) nonprofit organization incorporated in Mississippi and registered as a Charitable Organization with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office may participate in the Day of Giving. Search for your organization by name or EIN here. If your organization does not have a profile, you will have the opportunity to create one and get ready to start accepting donations! Q.Can my church or religious congregation participate?
If your church or religious congregation has a separate 501(c) doing work in the community (tutoring, sheltering, etc.) then yes that 501(c) can participate as an organization and it will be a great way to raise funds for your mission. However, we encourage those who want to donate to a church or religious congregation's general fund to do so directly to help further the good work that they are doing.
Q. What is the last day I can claim administrative access on my organization's page to ensure my participation in the Mississippi Day of Giving?
The deadline for registration to be guaranteed inclusion in Mississippi Day of Giving is October 7, 2016. To claim your page, please start here. Your profile on GiveGab is available 365 days a year for fundraising and volunteer management.
Q. How much does it cost?
It is FREE for organizations to register for the Mississippi Day of Giving.
GiveGab retains a 5% campaign management fee from all donations, capped at $20 per donation. Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.7% + $0.30. Donors are given the option to cover the fees and a majority of them do. If they cover the processing fees, 100% of their online charitable gift will go to your organization.
Q. How much of the donation will go to our organization?
A 7.7% processing fee for each donation will be retained unless covered by the donor. 100% of all donations are tax-deductible for the donor. Organizations will receive all donations, less any uncovered processing fees, within 3 business days via direct deposit as long as bank routing and account information has been verified. All donations will be officially receipted for tax purposes by GiveGab. Participating organizations will have immediate and ongoing access to their profiles and reports for acknowledgement and further donor cultivation.
Q. How does an organization know who has donated and how much? Can I download a report?
All organizations that participate in Mississippi Day of Giving will be able to access and download a .CSV of their donations via their administrative dashboard on GiveGab. The report is updated in real-time and will include the donation payout date for bank account reconciliation, donation information (including a breakdown of the fees), and the donor’s name and contact information. Q. Can more than one person claim administrative access on our organization's page?
Yes, pending approval from existing administrators. All administrators will need to create profiles on GiveGab. Every person who has administrative access will receive emails about updates to their page. You can also follow the steps here to add an additional administrator.
Q. What is Engage Mississippi?
Engage Mississippi—a new effort spearheaded by Mississippi Arts Commission, Mississippi Center for Nonprofits, and Volunteer Mississippi—is focused on aligning the state's resources toward a common goal and facilitating collaborations to create a foundation for solving community problems. By developing a strategy for effectively “channeling change," Engage Mississippi seeks to ensure the creative and charitable economy in Mississippi has the tools to continue playing a critical role in the economic health in communities and in our state.
To achieve these goals, Engage Mississippi will serve as a source of training, technical assistance and information for Mississippi's nonprofit, government, and creative professionals to access best practices, effective strategies and professional development tools.
Q. When is the Mississippi Day of Giving?
Mississippi's Day of Giving starts at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 and concludes at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016.
Q. Who can participate in the Mississippi Day of Giving?
Any individual may donate. Donations through Mississippi Day of Giving to nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only. Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab.
Q. Which organizations can participate?
Organizations participating in Mississippi Day of Giving are verified 501(c) organizations that are either based or operate in Mississippi.
Q. Your Donations
All donations are final and cannot be refunded. GiveGab distributes 92.3% less $0.30 of each transaction directly to the the qualifying organization as advised by the donor. It retains 7.7% + $0.30 for GiveGab's expenses, which includes credit card transaction costs. If you choose to cover the processing fees 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the receiving organization.
Q. Who is GiveGab?
GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.
Q. Who will receive my contact information?
Engage Mississippi and the organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.
Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?
No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. Your account will, however, collect tax receipts in one location, enable you to track donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.

Yes! Simply visit MSDayofGiving.org on October 20.
Q. How do I preschedule my donation for the Mississippi Day of Giving?
You cannot pre-schedule your Mississippi Day of Giving gift, however, you will be able to make your gift starting October 1st directly to an organization's Mississippi Day of Giving page and it will count toward the day of giving.

Q. How will donations made on October 20, 2016 be distributed?
Each donation made to a nonprofit organization will be disbursed directly from GiveGab via direct deposit within 3 business days.
